Ending Homelessness


The Plan to End Homelessness, Pima County was adopted by the Pima County Board of Supervisors and Tucson City Council in June 2006. They directed the Tucson Planning Council for the Homeless to be responsible for Plan implementation.

The Plan to End Homelessness Implementation Coordinator works with local governments, community-based organization, and citizen groups to implement the Plan’s recommendations. Please contact the Implementation Coordinator to learn how you can be involved in ending homelessness in our community.

What is our Plan to End homelessness in Tucson and Pima County?

Some areas of focus include:

· Increase OUTREACH to homeless and near-homeless people.
· PREVENTION – increase resources for emergency rent & utility asst.
· Assist EX-OFFENDERS to obtain jobs and housing.
·  Increase the availability of PERMANENT HOUSING with accessible support services.
· Improve COORDINATION OF SERVICES
· Improve resources for special populations at risk of homelessness such as YOUTH, SENIORS, and VETERANS.
· Mobilize the FAITH COMMUNITY to assist people out of homelessness.
· Increase COMMUNITY AWARENESS to involve volunteers, reduce stigma.
